Objectives of the Event:

  • Share best practice in using open source learning material
  • Share examples of learning outcomes from open source material
  • Update delegates on past and current projects from University of Worcester and others

Background and summary

The creation of Open Source Material is an emerging education practice that allows students to capitalize on the scope and power of the Internet to create and manage their own learning experiences and use the available interactive material.

This workshop provided details of a UK-China Enhancing Graduate Employability and Entrepreneurship Project which developed curricula and teaching materials to enable staff to foster students’ entrepreneurial skills and enable them to take on the challenge of enterprise start-up with perspectives both on UK and Chinese business environments. The project’s first-hand knowledge sharing and active learning techniques has enabled students beyond the classroom to apply and understand the learning outcomes.

British Council’s support has enabled the presenting organisation to build entrepreneurial capacity for all institutions to foster entrepreneurial student development. In addition, it has further developed the links between UK and Chinese higher education institutions and encourage collaboration that would lead to a sustainable relationship based on mutual respect and knowledge sharing, leading to future development of curricula beyond the scope of the grant.
