Background and summary

EEUK Enterprise Exchange events are one day best practice style mini conferences where educators and practitioners come together to share and exchange good practice and expertise related to enterprise and entrepreneurship education.

This event focused on models of embedded enterprise that impact on the student experience in Further Education (FE). FE colleges shared their expertise of how enterprise education works in their college including team structure, model for engagement of staff, engagement of students and how enterprise contributes to an overall enhanced student experience.

Rubina Rashid, Assistant Principal at Barnsley College and EEUK Director, kicked the day off with her talk “How Enterprise contributes towards outstanding” and reflected on the contribution that Barnsley’s enterprise agenda has made. Bethany Wood, Founder of Loving Dot and alumna of Barnsley College provided and interesting student perspective and impressed delegates with her entrepreneurial flare.

The day continued with colleagues from The Sheffield College, where enterprise is a key strategic driver, sharing models of embedded enterprise that impact on the student experience and explaining how they work with external organisations to ensure ongoing support

Penny Matthews from Big Ideas Wales looked back at the Welsh youth entrepreneurship agenda across the last 15 years and shared insights into early stage developments of the Welsh Entrepreneurship Exchange. There were also contributions from the IOEE, Kirklees College and Kirklees Council and Coleg Cambria.
