This Enterprise Exchange event will explore the interface between design thinking and enterprise education and equip delegates to both use design thinking and teach design thinking to others.

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Bristol uses design thinking as the bedrock for its innovation process and venture creation teaching. Dave Jarman and Ann Padley from Bristol will take delegates through a practical design thinking exercise and will showcase examples of how they weave design thinking principles into their innovation and entrepreneurship teaching at the Centre.

Dr Gerasimos Balis, Design Facilitator within the Enterprise Team at Lancaster University will talk about how use of design processes can give students licence to act in a commercial context. He will discuss the various design process models that he has found most useful and will share with delegates details of how these are used within the curriculum, in co-curricular programmes and for student society events.

Dr Gill Owens embraces design thinking within a range of Teesside’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This includes their Chartered Manager Degree Award, the Teesside version of the Teampreneur programme and their newly revised and very entrepreneurially focussed MBA programme. Gill will share insights into her use of design thinking and especially how the approach needs to be adapted for different scenarios.
