Enterprise and Entrepreneurship are a vital part of the student experience at Sheffield Hallam University. Our vision is to be renowned as a forward thinking, enterprising and business engaged university offering a high quality, vibrant and challenging learning experience.
Our unique award winning Venture Matrix scheme offers students at all levels across the University the chance to set up their own simulated business venture or social enterprise and to trade with each other as part of the curriculum. The ventures also undertake projects for external companies and organisations, and support enterprise activities in schools and colleges. Venture Matrix is a highly effective way of preparing students for graduate employment or as successful entrepreneurs.
This activity is complemented by a wide ranging package of support on an extra curricular basis for students and recent graduates interested in self employment.
Working as part of the award winning Regional Graduate Entrepreneurship project, our Hatchery provides free incubation space, 1:1 expert advice surgeries, seedcorn funding, start up grants and a credit bearing Placement Year Entrepreneurship Scheme, PYES, where third year students receive a monthly bursary as part of a structured placement year. We also offer a Creative Space to stimulate innovation.
