Canterbury Christ Church University

The development of enterprise and entrepreneurship skills and abilities is considered to be of significant importance to the students and graduates at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Students of The Business School can study modules in Innovation & Enterprise Management as well as Business Model Generation, providing them with the skills and confidence to develop their own start-ups now or in the future.

Opportunities exist however for all students of The Business School to get involved and to develop their enterprise skills. Events such as the annual FLUX Sustainable Business Challenge and the Business Futures Week provide students with the chance to network with business owners, hear from local entrepreneurs and take part in start-up challenges where they get the taste of launching a business for real.

Enterprise isn’t just for The Business School though, with an increasing number of programmes across the faculties embedding enterprise education into their teaching and learning. This includes programmes within Health & Wellbeing such as the Occupational Therapy programme which includes a nationally recognised module in Innovation & Creativity which leads students through the development of a business idea, writing a comprehensive business plan and pitching their idea to a panel of experts for critical review.

In addition, the Student Enterprise Team, based with the University’s Career Development service provides direct support and advice to all students keen to develop their enterprise skills, generate new business ideas or follow careers in self-employment.

The University’s Graduate Attributes will also ensure that all students receive opportunities to develop skills in creativity and innovation throughout their teaching and learning. Supported by a range of extra-curricular activities, we hope that all students will have had the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial capacity by the time they are ready to leave Canterbury Christ Church and that they will be ready to be enterprising in whatever role they chose in the future.
