Leeds Metropolitan University has a long standing reputation for supporting student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship. The Institute for Enterprise Centre for Excellence in teaching and Learning was based here until 2010. Its work continues to be embedded into the curriculum to provide students with courses and modules which foster an enterprising spirit either through embedded work related activity, volunteering, live projects, competitions or extra-curricular activity such as a thriving SIFE network, offering overseas and UK based projects.
Students and staff have access to research and business support. Business Start-Up, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2011, holds competitions, runs workshops, offers Mentor support and Grants via the ERDF Graduate Entrepreneurship project. A summer boot camp is run by the GE project. The University Enterprise Office helps fund QU2, a business incubator, in the city.
