Liverpool John Moores University

The Centre for Entrepreneurship helps students and graduates start their own business. Since launching in 2003, we’ve helped over 300 start-ups. The support we offer is wide-ranging, from funding, advice and training, to events and networking opportunities.

Each year the Centre for Entrepreneurship helps over 2,500 students and our success has been recognised nationally. In 2015, we were ranked in the top 10 UK universities for the number of businesses created and the number of firms that are still active by the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey. We were also shortlisted for The Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship in the 2015 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

Not only has our success been noted, our students have also gained national attention. In 2014, two of our graduates secured a £50,000 investment from the BBC’s Dragons’ Den for PHOM – their loose leaf tea business. In 2012, the entrepreneurial pair also won the UK Young Enterprise national awards.

In 2014, Inca, a luxury hot chocolate drinks company, won Company of the Year and a UKTI Export Award at the Young Enterprise Regional Start-up Final. Ad’nitiative, a coffee sleeve advertising company, also won the Best Presentation award at this competition.

As well as hosting events for our students and graduates throughout the year, in 2015 we also hosted the NACUE Student Enterprise Conference, with over 500 students attending from across the UK. This is the biggest student enterprise conference in Europe.
