Leeds Arts University

Every programme includes a Personal and Professional Practice module, offering students the opportunity to demonstrate an awareness of areas of practice within creative industries.

Enterprise workshops “Start-Up Wednesdays” are delivered throughout term-time, facilitated by creative industry experts who assess the viability of business ideas and advise students about entrepreneurship, marketing, intellectual and legal property, blogging, freelancing, money management, pitching ideas and self-employment.  Intensive week-long workshops are delivered in the summer vacation, culminating in a competition to win mentoring support for the best business idea pitch.

Visiting creative professionals are invited to speak and talk to students about their career journey, demonstrating specific innovations and techniques.

Creative Networks:  the College’s professional events programme is delivered five times a year.  High profile speakers from a range of creative disciplines are invited to speak to students, staff, alumni and creative industry professionals.

Incubation and studio spaces are available for recent alumni, offering professional business mentoring, networking opportunities and creative critiques.

Commissions, competitions, joint collaborations and live briefs issued by organisations are publicised via student bulletins and managed by the Careers, Employability and Enterprise team.
