Birkbeck, University of London

Enterprise Pathways delivers support and expertise to students who are pursuing, or considering, a self-employed or entrepreneurial career. Birkbeck has a huge diversity of students including those at the beginning of their career who want to forge a self-employed path, to those who are making a transition to consultancy or want to develop a lifestyle business.

Our activities include:

  • Boot-camps to support idea generation, problem solving and pitching: we run the Boot-camps in collaboration with two other University of London Colleges to encourage networking and cross-fertilisation of ideas.
  • Coaching to support individual needs:  we regularly have coaches with expertise in starting a business, digital expansion and financial management for students who require more focused support.
  • Business Planning workshops: primarily to support students who want to pitch their business or enter a competition and want advice and support about developing a robust business plan.
  • Digital resources:  a range of modules to support students who learn best through this media or require a distance learning option. Content for these modules has been created by partners that are start-ups or industry experts.
  • Talks from seasoned entrepreneurs:  inspiring talks from those who have been there and done it …… sharing their stories about success, failure and the importance of resilience
  • Co-working spaces: for students whose businesses are progressing, we offer financial support at a range of co-working spaces to enable students to work and develop their ideas in a creative and vibrant environment
