Our mission is to encourage an enterprising spirit among Sussex students and staff through fun events with personal development opportunities and to promote entrepreneurship as a development option in many different fields of interest. We invite a diverse range of entrepreneurs to give us real-life examples of the challenges and successes encountered in setting up a business, charity or social enterprise via our "Enterprise Thursdays" events. Alumni, members of the local business community and university staff are also very welcome at Enterprise Thursdays, where plenty of opportunities exist to make new contacts for mentoring, internships, and other useful links and collaborations.
The University also holds an annual ideas competition, Enter-Prize, which gives students the chance to create new ideas, attend workshops to build upon those ideas with others, win up to £500 in prizes and get additional support to help progress ideas further.
We support students in a variety of initiatives and programmes including the CMI Enterprisers residential programme, Commercialise business training, and attendance at national conferences. Our SIFE Sussex society has been operating for the last 4 years and has grown year on year, and recently being recognised with awards, and making the semi finals of the SIFE National competition.
We've found Sussex students and staff to be very adept at coming up with new ideas, spotting opportunities and acting upon them, networking, and inspiring others to work with them. Because great ideas can come from anywhere, at any time, our activities are open to all undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctoral School students across all disciplines and subject areas.
