University of Leicester

Engaging our students in enterprise learning and entrepreneurship develops talent and enables students to become more employable, enhancing the student experience and contributes to the economy and society.

Through the Careers Service the University engages students by offering:

1. enterprise learning opportunities to all students, both in and outside the curriculum, to equip students with the knowledge, experience and skills to become enterprising employee;

2. provide advice, information and practical support to help students and recent graduates to start a business (become an 'entrepreneur').

In terms of employability, enterprising students will have many of the skills associated with employability as well as developing personal qualities, such as capacity to generate ideas, risk-taking, commercial awareness, leadership skills and being proactive.

Proactive students lead our SIFE Leicester Team, Bright Futures Leicester Team and our Leicester Entrepreneurs facilitated by University advisers.

Our starting in business and social enterprise programmes provide:

• business skills training

• bursary support to students/recent graduates

• connectivity to new networks

• accreditation through the Leicester Award to students and graduates

The Careers Service works closely with Enterprise Business and Development at the university to provide support with, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation, Regional Engagement and Business Services & Collaboration.
