University of Hertfordshire

Entrepreneurial activity is at the heart of everything the University of Hertfordshire does, in the way we work, think and educate our students. It is in recognition of this ethos that we were awarded the prestigious title of Times Higher Education Entrepreneurial University of the Year Award 2010/2011. The awarding body cited the University as a leading exemplar of an institutional environment that truly practices what it preaches as it is in itself an entrepreneurial organisation.

We pride ourselves to having an institutional environment and culture that encourages and support entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour in all it does. The University supports entrepreneurial staff and students by:

  • Embedding enterprise modules into the curriculum
  • Running a competition to assess entrepreneurial ideas
  • Holding workshops on all aspects of starting and running a business; marketing, finance and Intellectual property
  • Providing one-to-one mentoring and business advice
  • Offering free access office accommodation and facilities for budding entrepreneurs
  • Providing a fund to support start-ups and spin-out companies
