Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) is funded by the Scottish Funding Council to help students in Scotland to develop the innovative and entrepreneurial mindsets they need to become the change-makers, innovators and global leaders of the future.
Our enterprise education team works closely with partners and institutions across the country to support Scotland’s educators and students, providing cutting edge events and activities as well as online resources.
We run high profile national events and competitions such as our Fresh Ideas competition intended for students and graduates with ideas at an early stage of development, and Catalyst for those who are progressing their innovative ideas. Hundreds of student innovators in Scotland start with Fresh Ideas and, with access to practical advice and mentoring through our team of business advisors, many go on to build successful companies.
SIE also runs the Scottish Innovative Student Awards (SISA), a personal development programme designed to develop innovation competencies across three levels. Each level is a micro-credential designed to boost a student’s CV by giving them tangible evidence to show employers and other stakeholders that the student has the key innovation competencies they value. Working towards each level can also help students spot opportunities for future course work ideas or new venture creation.
