Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE)

SIE turns Students into Entrepreneurs. We do that through a variety of activities that inspire and encourage students who may never have thought about starting a business before, and by developing and supporting those students who are taking their first steps as Entrepreneurs.

We run high profile events and competitions such as our Fresh Ideas competition intended for students and graduates with ideas at an early stage of development. Hundreds of young innovators start with Fresh Ideas, with many going on to future success.

Our innovation and enterprise team works closely with partners and institutions across the country to support Scotland’s educators and students, providing cutting edge events and activities as well as online resources such as our Ideas & Inspiration hub.

We also provide practical advice and mentoring through our team of business advisors for student start-ups.

We believe that any student who participates in SIE activities will benefit, whether or not they go on to start a business now or in the future. They gain confidence, they learn what it takes to make a company successful, and they become more employable.
