Building on our strong civic foundation, the University is launching The Exchange this Autumn in the heart of the City. The Exchange will be a place for curiosity, celebration, collaboration and change. Where through our new student incubator hub we will inspire, engage, and support student and graduate entrepreneurship.
The role will be based within Careers Network, which exists to support and develop Graduates who will make a difference, becoming leaders in their fields and contribute to the public good. The Careers Network Team, comprises circa 60 staff, across several specialist areas, supporting employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship within and beyond the curriculum, and engaging with employers, alumni and external partners to support this endeavour.
About the Role
We are looking for a Deputy Director Student Entrepreneurship & Enterprise, this is a new post that will provide inspirational leadership to develop and implement the University’s ambitions for enterprise, entrepreneurial start up and incubation support for students and recent graduates.
As part of the senior team within Careers Network, the Deputy Director will work collaboratively to build the University’s reputation as a place for developing and nurturing entrepreneurial, creative and resilient leaders of the future. This includes leading the launch and growth of the University’s new student incubator, alongside delivering a bold, innovative, and impactful strategy for student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship engaging colleagues across the institution.
Successful candidates will have significant experience of developing and delivering bold, innovative, and impactful strategy, excellent interpersonal, influence, persuasion and negotiation skills and the ability to engage and convince others, including up to board level. This is alongside experience of working in the entrepreneurial and enterprise ecosystem including securing sources of funding for new initiatives and growth
Applicants should possess substantial relevant managerial experience of the entrepreneurial environment either as a founder or managing director of a start-up or in provision of proactive technical support to start-ups.
Applicants should also have experience of providing technical expertise in assisting early-stage ventures to scale and strategies for success in relation to helping entrepreneurs achieve early-stage product to market fit and seed investment.
