We are an exceptionally collaborative and entrepreneurial university. In the social sciences and humanities we have developed a strong track record of collaborations and partnerships with organisations from the private, public and third sector. Accordingly, we have strong engagement with the world of business to bring cutting edge insights from research to achieve innovation, digital adaptation and sustainability. More than 40 companies are co-located with us on our campuses. We have extensive links with international, national and local organisations engaged in public policy, advocacy and regional development. Our research is shaping new policy approaches to a wide range of pressing issues from threats in cyberspace, to drug policy, policing and youth justice. We are a major partner to cultural institutions, including national museums, galleries and arts events, including the Hay on Wye book festival. Our research is helping to preserve and promote major heritage sites, rediscover lost voices in literature, particularly female and BAME voices, and translate cultural artefacts of past civilisations for public understanding through exhibitions and school engagement.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in collaboration with Research Engagement and Innovation Services (REIS) provide support for Research and Innovation activities relevant to these areas. To support the expanding project portfolio in the Faculty and to deliver change initiatives, we are looking to second a focused and professional individual who embraces innovation and enterprise related to social science and humanities concerns, has a keen desire to see new ideas develop and blossom and has the focus to turn ideas into reality. The post holder will help identify, develop and deliver innovative and enterprise projects that bring together academics or students, external stakeholders and public, private and third sector organisations. The postholder will also promote the entrepreneurial activities of the Faculty in collaboration with the Innovation and Engagement Team in REIS across the University and beyond, bringing key projects within the institution together to maximise the success of those projects. You will play a key and visible role in leading and working on key innovation and enterprise projects in and across our three faculties and central Professional Service functions. Data capture, performance measuring and the reporting of information will be a key aspect of this role to ensure the achievement of Innovation and Enterprise strategic metrics relevant to the post.
