This new full-time (1.0 FTE) post is available with immediate start from early January 2024, on a 2 year fixed-term basis initially until early January 2026. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

Exeter Innovation (EI) is the professional team that supports and drives this critical work. Its key aim is to secure significantly greater value and impact from relationships with partners drawing on the University’s education, research and physical assets. This includes research collaboration, commercial services, new venture development skills, placements, and education partnerships with business recruitment. The Student Startup Team is situated in Exeter Innovation’s Enterprise & Innovation Programmes division.

The University of Exeter (UoE) has as strong track record of supporting student entrepreneurship through the Student Startups programme. The Student Startup Manager will lead the delivery of extra-curricular & co-curricular programmes, designed to develop the entrepreneurial competency of participants and support new venture creation. Universities have an essential role to play in ensuring entrepreneurship is embedded in both curricular and extra-curricular provision, in order to develop the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Nurturing and supporting young entrepreneurs creates a pipeline of highly employable graduates and new, sustainable ventures that create value within the regional, national and international economy.

The team works with student ventures ranging from tech startups to social enterprises to new products and innovation. The core programme comprises of focused pre-incubation and incubation programmes and this post will play a key role in the delivery of these programmes: this includes workshops, speaker events, demo events, 1-2-1 advising and access to early-stage funding. The post-holder will be expected to liaise closely with colleagues across the University, including Professional Services, Colleges and the Students’ Guild, to ensure a collaborative and joined up approach to identifying and supporting the entrepreneurial ambitions of students, researchers and staff.
