Delegates will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear about the partnership created between Keele University and Georgian Technical University, its challenges and expansion of the project team
  • Consider international knowledge exchange opportunities
  • Discuss challenges of international knowledge exchange and possible solutions

Summary

This workshop is designed to share examples of good from the partnership created between Keele University and Georgian Technical University which is now in its fifth year.  Created in response to a call from the Georgian government for reform in its social and economic policies including labour market and educational policies, this partnership was designed to:

1) Support the development of a framework for entrepreneurial learning.

2) Increase understanding of what works through a comprehensive investigation into an existing provider model.

3) Encourage teaching and training innovation and infrastructure development by introducing incentives/rewards.

4) Ensure coherence and increased capacity through the development of an Enterprise Programme

5) Popularise and promote the learning of English among GTU students and SMEs.

This workshop will give an overview of the activity undertaken by the partnership including ‘training the trainers’ and new course creation and some of the unexpected outcomes of the working relationship and challenges encountered.

We will then move onto lessons learnt, expansion to other areas of the institution and our plans for the next steps to sustain this partnership.

We encourage an open dialogue throughout and will include an open discussion about international knowledge in entrepreneurial and enterprise education and sustainability for future projects given our reliance on external funding sources in the UK.
