‘Three x Three = EE24’: A triple pedagogical approach to the triple bottom line. Exploring the embeddedness of people, planet and profit in enterprise education through curricular, extra-curricular and research activities.

Cardiff Metropolitan University and online

Tuesday 26th March 2024, 9.30am Coffee/Registration for a 10.00am start -4.30pm

Summary

The focus of the event is People, Planet and Profit, in enterprise education across the FE and HE sector. We want to breakdown down silos and showcase how various disciplines are embedding Enterprise Education (the focus on people, planet, profit) and then provide an opportunity for networks to be developed and expanded for future collaboration and research.

The start of the event will feature a welcome from the Vice Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan and how Enterprise Education has been embedded within the University’s strategic plan.

The five schools at Cardiff Metropolitan will then present their enterprise provision around the People, Planet Profit pillars. These best practice sessions will draw upon both explicit enterprise education interventions, and interventions where the emphasis has been on ethics and sustainability. The student outcomes will be shown, specifically highlighting how enterprise skills have been developed through a broad variety of provision.

The University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship will then discuss how their role as a central department has facilitated and supported the implementation of the strategic direction of the University, the priorities of the Welsh Government and the development goals of the UN across curriculum and extra-curricular activity.

A keynote will be delivered by a Welsh social entrepreneur and Cardiff Met graduate, highlighting how the provision at HE level impacts the economy and society post-graduation.

The afternoon session will start with a panel discussion of local HEIs, businesses, social enterprises and Welsh Government, discussing how the public and private sectors can, and are working together. Following the panel e- panel discussion, discussion rooms with specific topics points around Planet, People, and Profit will be available for delegates to join. The breakout sessions will provide opportunities for delegates to network and discuss approaches, pedagogy, research interests and questions (around the three pillars). It is hoped that valuable networks will be formed which can be developed and future collaborative opportunities identified.
