RNCM (Royal Northern College of Music)

The RNCM is a forward-thinking conservatoire with entrepreneurship at its core.  Our musical excellence, unparalleled professional partnerships, award-winning access and participation training, and sector-leading research, propels students from 60+ countries into careers as risk-taking innovators, equipped for fulfilling futures both on and off stage.

Our strategy prizes entrepreneurship, and this is embedded in all our degree programmes, including skills-focused training (digital skills, finance, tax, project management, marketing, budgeting, recording, editing, website creation and management), and unique opportunities for students to pursue their own independent creative projects, both in- and extra-curricular (including an annual entrepreneurship award, with a £5,000 plus industry mentoring prize fund). The RNCM has successive full 100% employability outcomes for our students with 87% + working in the music industry.

We mobilise musicians to graduate into the world as risk takers, innovators and changemakers. RNCM alumni are behind the creation of many of today’s new music ensembles (such as the critically acclaimed Manchester Collective) looking to try new initiatives, challenge perceptions and attract new audiences.
