Careers and Employability

This group is dedicated to promoting excellence in enterprise education and employability across the higher education sector. With a focus on careers and employability services, as well as other key university stakeholders, the SIG aims to foster accessibility and inclusivity in all aspects of enterprise practice. Through this group, members will contribute to policy discussions and explore opportunities for cross-membership collaborations, leveraging our collective voice to influence and shape the future of enterprise education. By increasing the scale, scope, and effectiveness of enterprise education, the SIG will provide a supportive environment that inspires innovation, builds confidence, and empowers members through a suite of CPD events, networking opportunities to share best practice, and access to collaborative funding initiatives.

The SIG has the following aims:

  • Create a community space for Careers Professionals, plus wider university staff interested and/or working in Employability, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship roles.
  • Instil a culture of sharing best practice, whether this is approaches to work, and/or sharing useful resources so that colleagues to adapt and recontextualise for wider use.
  • Enhanced skill development to support careers professional foster an entrepreneurial mindset and gain a deeper understanding of multiple facets of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education.
  • Advocate for policy changes ensuring careers professionals are informed about relevant policies and have opportunities to contribute to the development of policies that support entrepreneurship and small business growth.
  • Research and Innovation: Conduct and disseminate research on trends, challenges, and best practices in entrepreneurship to keep careers professionals informed and equipped to support their clients effectively.
  • Collaborate with wider Educational Institutions, exploring partnership working with schools, colleges, and universities to raise awareness of enterprise education in multiple educational settings, exploring opportunities to share best practice and good news stories to raise the profile of this area of work with students.
