Could you be our next Practitioner Pathway Network Chair?

Would you like to give something back to the enterprise education community while building your own experience and connections? We’re looking for someone to help shape EEUK’s Practitioner Pathway Network and bring colleagues together to share ideas, learn from one another and support their practice.

The Practitioner Network is one of EEUK’s three Pathway Networks. Linked to our Fellowship pathways, they give colleagues a space to connect, share what works and explore common challenges. What we learn together can also help shape EEUK’s activities.

Who can apply

You can apply if you’re a current EEUK Associate Member—any employee of an organisation holding EEUK Membership.

You don’t need to have been a Chair before. We welcome colleagues from different backgrounds, roles, career stages, institutions and locations. If you enjoy bringing people together and have ideas for the Practitioner community, we’d love to hear from you.

What you could bring and gain

This voluntary role is a chance to give back, help others develop their practice and gain experience of leading a community. You could build your facilitation and leadership skills, widen your professional connections and explore ideas that support your own career development. The appointment is normally for three years; a shared Co-Chair role is also possible.

With Network members and the EEUK team, you’ll:

  • shape a manageable programme with at least two opportunities to get involved each academic year;
  • make the Network welcoming, inclusive and accessible;
  • bring in contributors and focus on topics that matter to practitioners;
  • stay in touch with EEUK and help future leaders get involved;
  • share a short annual update with the Board on what’s happened, what you’ve learnt and what comes next.

You’ll have support from the EEUK team with promotion, registration, online delivery, planning and administration. The formal responsibilities, annual reporting timetable and arrangements for support and governance are set out in the Pathway Networks Terms of Reference.

How to apply

Complete the short expression-of-interest form by 10am on the 23rd November. No CV is needed. Clear examples and practical ideas matter more than polished language, and you don’t need to disclose personal characteristics or experiences you’d rather keep private. We ask for four short responses, suggesting up to 250 words each. These are the four things the panel will score, each worth 25%:

  • your connection with and understanding of the Practitioner pathway;
  • your experience of bringing people together, facilitating peer learning or supporting a community;
  • how you would make the Network inclusive and accessible, with practical examples of reducing barriers or widening participation from your lived experience;
  • your ideas and realistic first-year priorities for the Network, including at least two engagement opportunities.

We’ll also ask whether the practical commitments are manageable. This is not part of your score, and needing support or reasonable adjustments should not be a barrier. You can ask to discuss arrangements before confirming. You can also say whether you’re open to being a Co-Chair; that preference is not scored.

Please read the EEUK Pathway Networks Terms of Reference before applying.

What happens next

Our admin team checks membership eligibility and a reasonable connection to the Practitioner pathway, then removes names, job titles, organisations and other identifying details before panel scoring. Please leave these details out of your four responses.

A panel of at least three EEUK Board members scores your four responses independently, then discusses its assessments. It may recommend an appointment from the written answers, or invite one or more applicants to a short conversation to help select the right person or people. The Board makes the appointment; a Co-Chair approach may also be suggested and agreed with the applicants.

Distinctive examples may still be recognisable, so assessors declare conflicts of interest and base their decisions on the evidence in your application.

Questions or support

If a different way of applying, an adjustment or a conversation would help, contact connect@enterprise.ac.uk. We’ll discuss what works for you. Requests for support are handled separately from scoring and won’t disadvantage your application.

Apply by: 10am on the 16th November. We expect to let applicants know the outcome by the 16th December.
