Coaching is an essential part of an Enterprise Educators toolkit – whether you use it in the classroom, as a personal tutor, to support start-up or to nurture your team coaching approaches are proven to be an effective way to empower and develop the people you are working with. Coaching for Enterprise Educators is a practical, immersive training programme that equips participants with the foundational knowledge, evidence-based techniques, and confidence to embed coaching into their daily work.
Delivered by expert practitioner and researcher Matthew Draycott, this course blends hands-on learning with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and contexts of enterprise education. Drawing on Matt and Helen Smith‘s original entrepreneurial coaching framework and based on their shared experience of entrepreneurship, education and coaching. The programme is designed to align with EEUK’s recommended approaches—fostering inclusive, practice-led, and reflective professional development.

This programme is ideal for university staff, enterprise educators, and professional service teams who support student and graduate entrepreneurs. Whether you’re new to coaching or looking to enhance your existing approach, this course provides structured learning and practical application tailored to your context.
What will you gain?
Participants will:
- Understand the distinction between coaching, mentoring, and advising in entrepreneurial contexts
- Apply practical coaching models (GROW, CLEAR) and build confidence using them
- Develop deeper skills in empathy, active listening, and managing resistance
- Design tailored coaching strategies that support entrepreneurial growth, inclusion, and resilience
- Build a reflective coaching practice that adapts to diverse learner needs
Programme Format
- Day 1 & 2 (19–20th Jan): In-person workshop at BCU. Interactive, experiential learning with roleplays, planning sessions, and peer support.
- Follow-up 1 (Late Feb): 2-hour online group supervision to reflect on applying coaching skills in practice.
- Follow-up 2 (Late Mar): 2-hour online group reflection to consolidate learning and plan next steps.
