IEEC Revisited: Enterprise as Practice, Not Pitching: An Immersive Team-Based Entrepreneurship Experience

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm 27/01/2027

This session by Aimee Postle, which won Best in Track 5: Beyond the Hub: Entrepreneurial Places, Spaces and Teams at the International Enterprise Educators Conference 2026, is now being opened up as an online event for the wider EEUK community. If you were not able to join us at IEEC in person but want a taste of what the conference has to offer, this session is a must-attend.

What if entrepreneurial capability develops primarily through participation rather than performance? In this interactive session, we will explore how belonging, identity and entrepreneurial capability emerge through practice, dialogue and contribution, rather than through pitching alone. Participants will experience and reflect on a team-based enterprise learning activity, consider the role of uncertainty in learning, and examine practical ways to design more inclusive enterprise education. Drawing on perspectives including Team Academy, communities of practice, experiential learning and enterprise as practice, the session offers ideas that can be adapted across disciplines and educational contexts.

Key themes include:

  • Belonging as a pedagogical design principle
  • Participation, identity and entrepreneurial capability
  • Designing learning conditions rather than outputs
  • Moving beyond venture creation and pitching as dominant models of enterprise education
  • Preparing learners for an AI-enabled and uncertain economy

Ideal for: Enterprise educators, curriculum designers, coaches and anyone interested in more inclusive approaches to entrepreneurial learning.
