10:30 am - 3:00 pm 20/05/2025
University of Westminster and online
This collaborative event designed by the WeNetwork team at the University of Westminster and Freelancer Club aims to elevate freelancing within Enterprise Education by bringing together educators, practitioners, industry professionals, and student freelancers in an engaging and interactive format.
Event Agenda:
10:30am – In person registration
11am – Welcome Speech – Overview of the landscape HYBRID
11.15 – 12pm – Session 1 interactive speakers panel (HYBRID): Freelancing Unfiltered: Student Perspectives on what’s working and what not.
Hear from 4 student speakers at different stages of their freelance journey, we handpicked speakers who will champion their real and honest perspectives, and sometimes challenge assumptions about their experience of freelance support in HE. The panel discussion will be underpinned by recent survey findings about the student perspective on freelancing, sourced by WeNetwork.
12pm – 1pm – Session 2 interactive workshop and presentation: Are Student Freelancers the key to unlocking Graduate Outcomes?
This session will equip enterprise educators and employability professionals with strategies to identify and engage students in freelancing, helping them develop content and programmes that enhance employability and drive successful graduate outcomes.
1pm – 1:45pm – Networking Lunch and Activities
Attendees will be offered catering and the opportunity to network with their peers. Entrepreneurial students from the University of Westminster will join this lunch to take part in networking and students will also run creative pop up stands where attendees can expect to get a new headshot taken by a photographer, and receive guidance on enhancing their LinkedIn profiles from our skilled students.
1:45pm – 2:45pm – Session 3 roundtable discussions: Uncovering the top solutions to the most common obstacles
In groups chaired by Freelance Champions (Enterprise Education peers), attendees will discuss three common obstacles for freelance support in HE. In rapid and moderated discussions, attendees will hear about solution-focused best practice and present back their findings.
2:45 – 3pm – Closing remarks
Hybrid delivery:
We highly recommend attendees to join in person to get the full experience.
For attendees who want to join remotely, we can offer part of the event to be made available online. This would be sessions between 11am-12pm including the Welcome Speech and the Session 1 coverage. The rest of the sessions are meant to be highly interactive and are better suited to being available in-person only, using breakout group discussions and networking with freelancing students in the room.
