Leeds Beckett University has a long standing reputation for supporting student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship. Extra-curricular activity is led by the Enterprise and Innovation Academy for Students, previously branded Business Start-Up. Initiatives include regular workshops, online learning, competitions, mentor support and grants. A summer Entrepreneur Bootcamp is run by the GE Project; a collaboration across all the universities in Yorkshire and the Humber.
As well as the Academy, the University’s Enterprise Services operate a number of Enterprise and Innovation Hubs, across the City, offering managed workspace plus mentoring and training.
Being enterprising is a graduate attribute that is expected to be embedded throughout our University’s curriculum. Defined as “the development of creativity, organisational skills, problem solving, business skill, leadership skills and project management skills”, all our graduates will have been exposed to and practiced enterprise skills.
