Manchester Metropolitan University

Enterprise and entrepreneurship education has been built into the suite of undergraduate programmes at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. We have also recently launched our flagship MSc Entrepreneurship programme. Enterprise and entrepreneurship, including digital entrepreneurship, are now interwoven into the fabric of much of the business school and the wider University. We create opportunities for student to launch and trade from new ventures as part of their studies through our work with the national Young Enterprise programme and through our level 5 and 6 start-up pathway. We specialise in applied curriculum around social and community enterprise. Supporting students in creating social impact through the application of their entrepreneurial skills to partner with social enterprises or create social enterprise solutions. Our newly appointed innovation scholars are exploring ways to inculcate enterprise and entrepreneurship into all programmes across the University.

The Student and Graduate Enterprise Team are part of the Careers and Employability Service. We support students and recent graduates who want to develop their enterprise skills, or are interested in learning about how to freelance, start their own business or social enterprise, regardless of their background or chosen course. We provide workshops, funding, and 1:1 support for our students and graduates, all with the aim of encouraging them to explore enterprise, develop their skills and think about the next steps in their career, whatever they might be.

Manchester Met’s business incubator Innospace provides a supportive environment for students, graduates and members of staff from all degree disciplines and year groups to start and scale a business.  Providing a multitude of support including Business Start Up Boot Camps, ideation sessions, skills-based development sessions, mentoring, curriculum delivery and a physical space to network with like minded individuals.  Innospace also works with more established businesses who are looking to engage with the university.

The Centre for Enterprise supports business leaders to reach their goals. Our team of academic and professional services staff transform leading research into practical solutions that help businesses to develop, innovate and grow. We focus on the type of support business leaders need to upskill, embrace emerging technologies and boost productivity. We look at the needs of micro, small and medium-sized businesses, and help them to identify achievable steps they can take and how to help them reach their goals.
