University of St Andrews

Creating a culture of innovation and an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem are at the heart of the University of St Andrews’ strategy.  We aim to enhance our impact on society and diversify and grow our research funding streams.  We do this by encouraging interaction of students and staff, through enterprise and entrepreneurial education and through strong engagement with business, government, the third sector, and other funders.

There are opportunities for staff, students, alumni and members of the community to develop their entrepreneurial mindset and skills and turn bright ideas and world leading research into impactful ventures.

The Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Education team empowers University students and staff to discover their entrepreneurial mindset and develop the behaviours, attitudes and competencies needed to generate ideas. This can, but does not exclusively, lead to venture creation.  We offer experiential learning opportunities through enterprising taught modules in the curriculum, training for staff and students, skills-development workshops and programmes, internships and much more.  Our most popular programmes include the Summer Teams Enterprise Programme and Vertically Integrated Projects.

The Entrepreneurship Centre at the University of St Andrews provides a vibrant hub for students, staff, alumni and members of the public to develop, test and launch entrepreneurial ventures. Located at the University’s Eden Campus, the Centre delivers a wide range of initiatives, from practical enterprise training and startup support to access to expert mentoring, funding opportunities and industry engagement. The Centre works across all academic disciplines and industries to inspire and support entrepreneurial thinking, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for budding innovators at every stage of their journey.   Our online community gives access to our events, workshops, competitions and mentor network, including ‘Innovation Week’ – a full week of events hosted in October intended to foster creativity and innovation.

St Andrews Innovation, which includes the Entrepreneurship Centre, is a key part of the University’s strategic commitment to innovation and enterprise, nurturing a culture where entrepreneurial ambition can thrive.
